Initial Notification: On May 10, 2015, NOAA was notified by the USCG Sector New York that after a fire and explosion at the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant in Buchanan, NY (along the eastern shore of the Hudson River) approximately 17,000 gallons of transformer oil had been released into a diked area. Initially no oil was reported in the Hudson River, but later a sheen was observed and the USCG requested trajectory support.
