Phillips 66 Pipeline Rupture; Cahokia Canal, IL

Initial Notification: On April 17, 2015, the USCG contacted the NOAA SSC for consultation on a pipeline spill in Illinois. An underwater 8” pipeline carrying Low Sulphur Diesel across the Cahokia Canal ruptured with an estimated 1200-3000 gallons of product spilling before being secured. The Cahokia Canal leads to the Mississippi River.
