Initial Notification: On the morning of Nov. 27, the U.S. Coast Guard was notified of a sighting by commercial aircraft. Three planes, flying between 24-37,000 feet, reported seeing a 6 mile by 1 mile red-brown patch on the water, approximately 76 miles north of the Dominican Republic, moving east. At this time, no Coast Guard assets are being deployed to investigate.
