Initial Notification: On September 25, 2014, the NOAA SSC was notified by the USCG Sector NY of an oil spill at IMTT in Bayonne, NJ. Due to overfilling of a barge at the facility approximately 2,100 gallons of #6 oil overflowed from the barge into the Kill Van Kull waterway. NJ regulations require pre-booming of all transfers, so the spilled oil was contained within the boom.
