Initial Notification: On 24 March, 2014, the USCG Sector Hampton Roads notified the NOAA SSC about a Methyl Ethyl Ketone chemical spill from Honeywell International, Hopewell, Virginia. The release took place on 22 March and the NRC was notified on 24 March. An estimated 7900 pounds of methyl ethyl ketone spilled into the Gravelly Run Creek through a waste water outfall. Cause was reported to be a faulty control discharge valve. USCG requesting Resources at Risk and information on the chemical.
