Initial Notification: On March 9, 2014, the USCG New Orleans contacted the NOAA SSC about a leaking flowline on an unmanned facility located in West Delta Block 83, between the Lower Mississippi River and the Gulf of Mexico about 4 miles northeast of the entrance to Southwest Pass, south of Venice, Louisiana. An estimated 15-30 barrels (bbls) of crude oil was discharged. The source was secured at 0645 on 9 MAR by shutting in the flowline. Cleanup operations are ongoing.
