Pipeline Spill of Bilge Slops; Naval Base Bangor, WA

Initial Notification: On March 14, 2024, the Navy OSC notified NOAA SSC of a spill from a pipeline that transports bilge slops from ships to shore at Delta Pier, Navy Station Bangor, WA. The leak began Monday afternoon, 11-March and is now located to be an approx. 3” corroded pipe that has been secured. Approx. 20-50 gallons of bilge slops were released into the water. An OSRO has been on-site to deploy sorbent and snare boom. The sheen was observed along the coastline south to Devils Hole. As of 14-March, there has been no additional sheen observed. The SSC consulted on ESA and RAR.
